Daily Market Update — October 11, 2026
October 11, 2026
Sunday setup. US equities stay closed today. This is where things stand going into Monday, off Friday October 9's close, with the weekend's own crypto marks folded in.
Where things stand Equities (Friday's close, the last completed session): S&P 500 7,811.54, Nasdaq 27,366.17, Dow 51,654.95, Russell 2000 2,806.98. On the week: S&P 500 +1.15%, Nasdaq +0.64%, Dow +0.93%. Those are the levels to carry into the reopen. Crypto (trading through the weekend): Bitcoin near 83,399.63 dollars, +1.03% versus Friday; Ethereum near 2,525.61 dollars, +1.61% versus Friday. Crypto is the only one of these markets open today, so it carries the weekend's reaction on its own. Commodities (Friday's settle): WTI crude settled 91.85 dollars, gold 4,216.30 dollars. Energy is the fastest route from a headline to an inflation reading, which is why it leads this page. Rates: the 10-year Treasury yield finished near 5.24% on Friday.
What this means for your system A closed day is the cheapest time to look at your own numbers, because nothing you see can be acted on impulsively. The figures above are the starting levels for the reopen, not a forecast of it.
Two things worth doing today Reconcile the Obsidian Metrics Financial Tracker so the coming week starts from real numbers rather than last month's memory. Set one alert at a level that would actually change something you do. If a level would not change anything, leave it off.
Bottom line Equities (Friday's close, the last completed session): S&P 500 7,811.54, Nasdaq 27,366.17, Dow 51,654.95, Russell 2000 2,806.98. Crypto traded through the weekend; equities reopen Monday. Nothing on this page is a reason to act today — it is a reason to know your own position before the open. The next full Daily Market Update follows the Monday session.
Question for you: on a closed day like today, do you look at your own numbers first or the headlines first?
