Frequently asked questions

What is the Obsidian System Lab?

The System Lab is a finance platform comparison and redundancy-planning tool. It puts any venues in the library side by side, marks the winner on each metric, shows historical yield ranges, custody type, withdrawal latency, and fees in one view, and lets you drag platforms into a candidate stack to see a redundancy score update live. Educational only, not financial advice.

What is a function slot?

A function slot is the job a platform does in a money system: on-ramp, yield venue, redundancy anchor, or growth layer. The framework organizes platforms by function, not brand, so you can see where a slot is missing, doubled, or a single point of failure.

How do I know if my system is redundant?

The Lab builder mode maps your platforms across the four functions and flags where one venue is doing too much or where a slot has no backup. Redundancy here is operational — an alternate path if one platform changes terms or goes down — not a guarantee of returns.

How do I get the System Lab?

The System Lab is available to Obsidian Metrics members, and the Skool community is free to join. It works on desktop and on the phone you use for quarterly reviews.
